Birdsong Club Pt 2

Hey guys how different do the Fusions and Corto's sound from each other ?
I'm debating between a Fusion and a Cbass fretless. I'm leaning towards the Fusion but I already have a Corto fretless.

Personally I think the Fusion has a very unique sound all its own. I haven't played a Cbass, but I'm thinking that a Cbass would be closer in sound to a Fusion than a Corto would.

On a side note, I just got my fretless Hy5 and it's just freakin amazing. It is an absolute beast. I recorded the unboxing, and once I have it edited and posted I'll let you all know.

Tough choices... :scowl:

Have you guys checked out the Birdsong site? Seen the raffle of a bloodwood Birdsong Scott is having to benefit the wildfire victims? I hate to dilute my chances to win, but it is a good cause...

The raffle was held and now it's up for bidding with the proceeds going to the wildfire victims. Seems like a very good cause. A second chance for all of us to get our hands on this bass and help out our fellow friends.

Bobby - I was thinking the same thing. I also would have kept the bass had I won. With that in mind, I guess it's a positive thing that the person who won was willing to go that extra step. So very cool! And a cause for self-reflection (and being honest with one's self).

It was a good cause, and I would not have felt bad for keeping it... I don't think anyone else should either... but very cool of the winner, anyhow....

I was planning on the white (maple?) fingerboard, matching white knobs... maybe a nice little flame or firefighter symbol woodburn somewhere, have Scott find some kick-tail pickups to drop in, and let Scott determine the best color for the hardware...

But I had not really thought much about it;)

Look at what was in the mailbox today.

Can Any of you HY5 owners out there tell me if your E and B strings tend to buzz a bit? I backed off the truss rod a little and there is room to back it off more but I've never owned a 5 string so I didn't know if that just was something that was common. The E doesnt buzz through the amp so thats fine but the B is pretty clanky. I was thinking flatwound strings might tighten the sound and feel up. Does anyone use flats on their 5?

I use flats on my Hy5, but it's fretless and E-C. I know Scott doesn't recommend flats on the standard strung Hy5's with the low B since it doesn't seem to like wrapping around all crazy like that. Maybe give him a call and ask him what happened when he tried it.

Mine came (2nd hand) with flats on it. Sounded fine, but I prefer nickel rounds- so that's what I've got on there... Anyway, no buzzing. Action is pretty low.

Beautiful bass, btw!!!
