Here's a pic. Trying to make a video. Trying to get better sound than the video mic. If anyone knows a simple way to get quality sound on a video please let me know. I have a Zoom H4 I can record to. It's interesting that the bass actually shorter than the other Birdsongs I own but the scale is an inch longer. The bridge seems to be closer to the end of the bass.
It looks like a strange visitor from another planet. In the best possible way. I think I may have played a fretless two times in my life. This makes me think about a third.

Seriously to anyone who has questions about these guitars, I cannot emphasize this enough, the man to ask is Scott he put his personal cell phone # on his website for chirst sake he wants people to talk to him. He's an awesome guy really easy going there's nothing to be afraid of CALL HIM!!!! I've spent hours on the phone with him before, we weren't even talking about guitars let alone mine lol. I mean he's not gonna answer every time but if you just leave a message he will call you back promptly and answer whatever questions you may have.
Was really wanting a user/customer perspective.

The Fusion was designed with an intent towards the jazz/blues/acoustic sound, although I am a big believer that with the right touch you can use anything for any other style (I jammed on some R&B with a BC Rich Warlock once).
The last time I played a Birdsong that wasn't one of my two was 2007 (a "Mesquito" single-pickup fretless, an all-maple Sadhana set up as a piccolo bass, "Richard the Test Bass", and the Hy5 prototype), so I'm not sure I can give you a ton more information than that (and those basses were all so weird that I'm not sure they give a good indication of the "typical models").

Yes it is the standard mahogany corto, varitone and all.
Yours is the Artist build I assume? It's amazing, truly beautiful... Scott and I spent like a half hour talking about your bass on the phone the other day

It's an amazing guitar. The great thing is besides the set neck it's basically the same guitar as yours. Its also the same set up as yours. I love that varitone I wish I had it on all my instruments. It is taking me a little time to adjust to the some different right hand playing positions. I've only had it since Friday and honestly I expected that. Every guitar has its own little quirks, but even so it's hard to make a bad sound with it lol
Scott was telling me he a lot of people have been talking about it. That's awesome though I didn't realize it was gonna be famous lol guess I didn't know what I was getting into. I think that's great if he can sell a few more basses just cuz of my guitar there's no one that deserves it more. As far as I'm concerned I got it for a steal. Plus as if their was any doubt before it just further affirms their status as a world class shop in my mind at least.
If I can ever afford another guitar from him I either wanna do a mesquite and turquoise bass or a solid mahogany bass like yours or that 5er he just put out that had the crazy swirls going up the horn.

That was an amazing piece of mahogany on the 5er.. did you see the piece on the Curlee in the finishing rack?

No I don't name my instruments, but if I did it'd prolly name it after something dumb lol some girl from some Zappa or Captain Beefheart song like Ella guru or Ethel (the tree).
That SD Curlee was epic. If I'm really honest with myself, I would probably buy one of each thing he makes lets hope for my bank accounts sake that doesn't happen. Scott makes Crack for bass addicts.

Anyone using flats strung through the body on their birdsongs?
I am planning to buy a couple sets of extra strings to try on my new Corto. A set of chromes, and a set of tapes.
Strung through would be the long scale sets correct?
Top loaded would be the medium scale in Chromes?

We STRONGLY recommend you string through-body unless you prefer flatwounds. I'm weird about the way the windings on flats separate over the sharp bend coming out of a through-body stringing setup. They may work fine for you & sound great, but they don't look happy and probably will fatigue there & break prematurely. Of course, my idea of the lifespan of flatwounds can be measured in years... I usually ship flats top-loaded for this reason.
