Love my CBass. I while back I had to sell one of my Birdsong's and I sold my Corto and kept my CBass.

the main difference between them being the reverse p pickup, right?
I understand that still though the Cbass is no longer a specific model, you can still order a Corto with reverse p configuration, that would in essence be a Cbass, right?

Got my new custom birdsong Hy5 last week. It is really nice! Spanish cedar and macassar ebony mody with matching headstock. I had scott make custom knobs, pick up covers, and truss rod cover out of the macassar ebony. He has nicknamed it "Eclipse!"

I know... When I got my Corto (8c-117), I knew everything I wanted except the wood... I was thinking something solid, one piece type. Scott said he had thoughts of a walnut center, ebony stringers, and sycamore wings. I thought "nah... not really what I am thinking". I had never even seen sycamore (just sung about Zacheaus in Sunday School). But for a week, I had what he said rolling around my brain... started looking up the woods online... after a week, I told him I could not get it outta my head, and to do it. Glad I listened to him!
So... I will gratuitously post another pic... These are the first Scott sent me when it was done...

Your bass is incredible!

Very nice bass! It's always good to take the advice of the artisan/artist. I did the same with my last tattoo and that really paid off. I guess if you select someone for a project based on their artistry, you should have confidence in their vision, which is likely what lead you to them in the first place

That is really what getting a Birdsong is like... like commisioning a piece of art or music. You tell the artist to make you a piece, but do not tell him every note or stroke to make. If I could do that, i would not have to get one from Scott...

Unfortunately I have to sell my "Eclipse" Hy5. Going to grad school . I just posted it in the classifieds. I will post here for a few weeks and if no luck I'll send back to Birdsong to sell. Well it was fun while it lasted...

I think If/when I manage to order something from Birdsong, I would install the so hated blend pot instead of two volumes after I got it, they might hate them, but I find it makes life so much easier to have a master volume

While I don't condone modifying birdsongs like that the turquoise and tortise looks pretty damn slick. I still prefer wood to paint but too each his own. Since where posting pics, for those who haven't checked the clients page in a while, I'll gratuitously post pics of my bass. I'm excited my first birdsong is almost done!

Uuuuhhh... you might want to get that upper horn looked at... it's getting a little swollen (where's the "dumb guy" smiley?)

Actually your not the first person to tell me that but It does look big in that pic I'm pretty sure its the angle. The head on pics give better proportions. I love it though Scott really went nuts when I told him to do whatever he wanted lol

Got the new fretless Embrace in the mail today. It's like a work of art! Really cool looking, sounds great and super easy to play. Gonna try and put together a youtube clip if anyone is interested in cheacking it out.

I use a 3 way switch rather than a blend pot on my Cortobass and love it - would not have it any other way. Just have a single volume and a single tone pot covering both pickups. Same as a Telecaster guitar only with a Gibson type 3 way toggle switch.

Replaced the neck pick up with a Seymour Duncan Cool Rails and the output balances well with the standard Lace bridge pickup - the standard Lace neck pickup output did not balance well.

I wrote a detailed post about my mod a while ago - years I think.
