I was going to order a corto 2, but the day i called scott my offer was accepted on a big house on 4 acres of land, needless to say i was tapped out on cash, property here in taxxachusetts is sky high, $333,000.00 for this house and that was a steal! !

Don't look at real estate in NJ then! I want to move to New England very very badly but my family won't leave NJ. I can tell you my house was more than than and is about 1200 sq ft on a 100x40 lot. That's just depressing. And the privilege of being 12 miles from Nyc means that I get to sit in lots of traffic and pay the ever increasing tolls to get into NYC (bridges and tunnels have a toll increase coming this Sunday again, may hit $15!)

Thankfully my birdsong is safe here.

That hollow body looks amazing! Can't wait to see how it turns out, hopefully they'll become part of the regular lineup. Will there be an F-Hole, or any holes in the top? I take it the shape is that of the Birdsong guitar? I dig it.

And.....after bugging Scott for 2 years, he finally agreed to do an 8 string for me, I'm excited about this build!
It will have the body of a 5 string Skyrider, and be a mix of Tulipwood and Cedar with Bloodwood accents.

Scott is the man, I can't say it enough, just an absolute joy to work with. His "new" music is pretty sweet as well...check it out: Scott Beckwith

If you look closely you can see the design for the build on that paper. No sound holes, but hollowed out inside to some degree. Scott said it has a lot of air inside. He gave me the choice between a floating bridge and using one of the standard hip shot bridges, and I chose the hipshot because I always have trouble with floating bridges. Floating would have been even more air inside, but I went with what I know.

He said it is further along then the pictures show, but he wants to get the top on it before posting pictures. I am wondering if maybe he wants to keep the inside design secret?

Scott, as usual, was a breeze to work with. Gave me a lot of options (sound hole, bridge, etc...). Final design is walnut with a maple neck, rosewood board, and rosewood inlays on the body. Black hardware and clover shaped tuners.

Scott designed it with the Delano oval pickup that is in the bliss bass. I like that pickup and did not object, so the conversation never came up.

Looking good! I can't wait to see how this one turns out. My Sadhana is getting closer to complete, it's going to have a maple board with matching Zebrawood headstock overlay.

The teardrop shaped inlays are going to be ebony, this is just a mock-up of the bass. Rosewood back, walnut sides and top, maple neck, rosewood board, ebony carving on top!

Can anyone recommend a good hard case for my bass? The TKL case for my old Cortobass is starting to show its age. Does the Cortobass fit in the TKL Strat case?

Can I join? Just received this treat in the fed X yesterday. I must say, this seems like an amazing bass so far. The p sounds are huge. The neck single coil is a whole different kind of cool. Setup and playability are the best I've experienced on a bass. All around better than I was expecting, and my expectations weren't low. Scott Beckwith is just a great, great guy to do business with and obviously a committed craftsman. Anyone who is thinking short scale and willing to part with some money has to consider Scott's offerings.

The body is poplar. It's whiter looking than my picture makes it look. No greenish hues which poplar can sometimes have. Scott apparently likes the sounds of the poplar and split coils together, and he seems to know what sounds good.
