Birth year bass Fender alternative ?

Like a lot of us here I would like to purchase a "Birth year Bass".
Well being dropped into the world ( literally ) in 1963 that puts a Fender bass a little to expensive at this time.
So what other bass would you recommend for this year or your year of birth?

Not that many choices...

Framus, Gibson, Hagstrom, Hofner, Kay, Rickenbacker and some semi-exotic/weird stuff along the lines of Burns or Vox, maybe.

I owned a '63 Gibson EB-0 that I gifted to my bass-playing-son and it was an awesome instrument presuming that one has any interest in a Gibson bass from that era to begin with.

Maybe Danelectro ? Although they're not cheap any more. For the price of a 1963 anything, you could probably buy a 63 fender bass neck.
