Good drummers have good tempo and don't overplay, therefore he wasn't a good drummer.
That's like, "We had a great guitarist, but he played twice as loud as needed and soloed constantly throughout the songs."

What's this "tell you later" business? Why not just tell you now instead of letting the band stew over it until she is ready to explain her actions?

That was my first thought. I remember keeping a dude's Marshall Stack in my garage for like, seven years while he was away on an armed robbery beef. We played again after that, but he is away again for a long time now. I hope the OP's situation turns around in time for the gigs!

Methinks M’lady doth display a certain flair for drama. “Reliable source.” “Disturbing information.” “some suspicious signs…” “Tell me later.”
Sounds more like the afternoon buzz buildup to some nighttime political pundit’s TV show rather than a ‘band business’ discussion.
Isn’t it more than just proving damages? Doesn’t the plaintiff have to establish as a matter of fact that the defendant proactively communicated to a third party a statement known by the defendant to be false at the time it was communicated?
It’s not just termination based on an incorrect understanding. The defendant has to have communicated an injurious false claim to others indicating that the termination was due to a defamatory characterization of the plaintiff and that this communication resulted in damaged reputation.
I'm confused; the BL fired the drummer but the drummer has not been told yet and no one else knows why he's been/getting fired? Doesn't make any sense, I'd fire the BL for that.
If she's firing him for a reason there is absolutely no point in being cagey about it. She should be handling this better. If there's sufficient reason, she should be up front with everyone else in the band beforehand about it.
I don't know, but this feels odd to me. It's like she can decide to fire someone, fire them, and make up a reason later. Not saying that's what she's doing, but keeping secrets never sits well with me.
