BL just fired the drummer

Let me over-analyze your post

Then recently The BL found out something about the new drummer and had to let him go. The BL called me to let me know she was replacing him, but would not tell me why for fear of damaging the drummer's reputation.

Okay, right there seems like the best way to start a conspiracy. Being up-front and honest is one thing I look for in a leader before I invest my time.

So if the drummer is doing something illegal that could drag the band down into it, she doesn't seem like a leader with the fortitude to tell the rest know why. Players tend to cross paths elsewhere in multiple bands or subbing.

The BL called me and the rest of the group individually as a courtesy to keep us in the loop of what is going on. That way we would not show up at rehearsal and "Where's Steve?!" "Oh BTW this is our new drummer, Rick, that will be playing with us from now on."

Since you don't know why the drummer was fired, it doesn't sound like she's, the BL, is keeping the remaining crew in the loop to me.

So you see kids, no conspiracy or mischievous or devious behavior. The BL was trying to do what was best for the band.

Well, it certainly sounds like it, if not directly, then very prominently woven between the lines. Since bandmates tend to have keen senses, there's a good chance everyone knows why.

But I'm going with Occam's Razor which is she just simply wanted the old drummer back, and created this drama to justify it. Problem she has though is slander. Hence her's reason why is completely muddy.

Anyone could look up the drummer's name; there are many websites that publish this information so that you know if an offender has moved in next door to you. This is the first thing I would do if someone told me something like this about a band member.

If that's the reason, there would be no point to keeping it secret, as it's public information.

I have no idea how you or anyone else would react in this situation. I'm only offering up a possible answer that would fit the criteria since we're all speculating here.

I understand that. I'm simply adding additional info to what you offered, because it's a thought worth investigating. Sheesh, why does everyone assume everyone else is arguing with them?

I also understand there is a drummer registry in most states. You can look to see if there are any drummers in the neighborhood before you buy a house there. Can't be too careful.

Even if you do win a suit over money or financial damages you still have to be able to collect it from your loser. Does he have it, did he hide it, will he pay it?

(heavy sigh) Oh well. He was a good drummer but we had issues with starting songs too fast and overplaying.

The BL said it was personal reasons. BL said that she had learned of some disturbing information from a reliable source. BL will tell me later.

I have no clue what it could be. I am usually perceptive as to people with issues and I did not see anything in his personality that would lead me to believe he had any. He does not drink and I never sensed any impairment because of drugs. He has a good personality and got along with everyone and was early to gigs/rehearsal.

It must be pretty serious because the band cannot afford to lose a drummer with our gigs coming up.

It was almost a year. Any news on the matter?

That drummer was two drummers ago. We are happy with our current drummer. How long he lasts is anyone's guess.

Just one man's opinion, but I haven't seen a "proposed" lawsuit yet on TB that any attorney would take on contingency. I don't think you can sue for getting butt hurt.
