BL just fired the drummer

As a member of the band I would want to know, and I feel I would have a right to know because I have a stake in it, practice time, gigs, rehearsals, rig investment, etc..Also I would want to know so I might be able to insulate myself from it happening to me or at least have an idea if it could happen to me..otherwise its like having a job that is day to day. I can't operate like that.

It is the BL's band so there is no reason to make up vicious lies about the new drummer.

Yet she did that, anyway. Or at the very least, she led you to believe that there's some unexplained, horrible thing about the guy that's so heinous she can't work with him. Who does that?

Like you said, it's an at will situation. She could let him go without any explanation and be within her rights.

I do not know why the drummer got fired. I figure that one of these days I will find out. BTW, how many of you have marched into your bosses office, slammed the door behind you, jabbed a finger in your bosses face and said, "I demand to know why you fired Chuck!".

but we're not talking about an employee

If I made my living as a partner in an enterprise, I definitely would be in "Chuck's" face asking why he fired one of my employees without providing reason and notice to the other partners.

but this is not an employer-employee situation, is it? we're talking about a band. A partnership. usually hobbyists. A voluntary partnership and trust. Even if there is a Band Leader, you're giving them the same power as your employer? You see yourself as an employee? You will be without income and insurance if they fire you? Really? hardly parallel situations, are they?

You're ok with that? Most of us are not. if you're defending the BL's right to do whatever she wants with the band for whatever reason, I wish you great luck

sounds like you like the bandleader, but it also sounded like you had no issues with the drummer either. so a little curiosity and devils advocate here, why are you willing to blindly support the band leader with no info and just assuming the drummer did do something bad?
