Black Block Inlay

I love the look black block inlay on a maple board, but I have no idea what the material is? What's its name and where can you find it? Thanks. Happy New Year.

Usually it's just black block stickers under the finish.. On rarer, more expensive occasions, ebony inlays.

blocks can be ebony, plastic, many dark or dyed woods, delrin, it could be anything. Generally plastic, and you can get it in the form of pickguard material from stew mac or LMI
