Black Dog Hardware

Anyone have any experience with this?

I'm looking at buying one of these two bridges to replace the POS that came on my MIM jazz about 10 years ago.

Quality bass guitar bridge in chrome black, gold BB104 | eBay

Quality bass guitar bridge chrome black or gold BB101 | eBay

The price is good and the build looks solid enough... a similar Gotoh is going for around £40 but I'm trying to keep this refurb as cheap as possibly possible to allow funds for a seperate build I'm hoping to start.

Any thoughts appreciated!

xx

I have one of the big heavy BB104 bridges (different supplier here in Canada), it's cast, likely zinc. I have seen the identical bridges used on some boutique basses. Carvin uses the same one except for locking saddles. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Same thing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Quality-b...sories&var=&hash=item9503aa5adb#ht_2165wt_956

The only issue I had was since the saddle height screws are steel going through zinc; I had some binding: the zinc threads were not clean (burrs) so I chased them with a tap and lubed them with parrafin wax and they work fine now. The "extended" bits on the saddle behind the witness point are hollow underneath. The sides of the bridge plate are hollow as well. The chrome looks flawless and seems good. As for the coloured ones...it's going to wear off like others do.

The lighter BB101 you show looks cast as well but should work fine. All in all on a budget, they will be fine.
