I just found out about his stuff, it all sounds awesome! It's mainly OD/dist/Fuzzes. He's got some interesting ones for bass, I'm thinking about getting this one: Uruk-Hai Deluxe (Valhalla V3 and Valkyrie V3)

Looks sick and it has a blend on both channels! There's only a few short clips available on his Facebook page, but they all sound absolutely brutal!

Any of you guys have pedals from this guy? Experiences?

I have the Gandalf single-knob fuzz... still haven't found how to use it for bass. I wish it had a blend knob to retain some of the original tone.

I have a Uruk-Hai and it's brilliant IMO. Use it on bass all the time.

I have TWO of the Valkyrie V4s. i loved the first one so much that i had to buy a second one for a backup just in case something happened to one of em. i was using them both in two different bands and leaving them at two different rehearsal spaces but one of those bands dissolved so i took it home and now i have one at the crib to play with at my leisure. my absolute favorite dirt pedal ever.

Bumping this thread cause Blackhawk high gain devices really are quite brilliant. The v2 Asgard has become my favorite high gain distortion/fuzz.

Thanks for that. Sounds like it would be great in person that would be hard to convey over video. I know MBD circuits well...how does the Asgard compare to the MBD eq-wise and quality of the distortion?

Got a Valkyrie V4 in the last Black Friday sale:

I haven't heard another dirt box that sounds quite like it; it's an interesting blend of Rat clank and super-saturated Velcro-ripping fuzz. The controls are very interactive so it's a fun one to mess around with, and it stacks well with other gain stages too.

I think the Asgard compares very well to the MBD in terms of EQ and quality of distortion. The Asgard is like the MBD’s brother from another mother, from the wrong side of the tracks. It’s not nearly as polite as the MBD. I really like the high gain side of the dial, and it’s eq works well IME. I like how the blend works too... but most of all, I LOVE how it sounds in the mix. I’ve i used it twice now in a live band setting and it simply rocks my fuzz bass sensibilities.

My current Xero is the three knob low pass filter version. I’m also on the wait list for a XeroD

Here is a re-post of the second Asgard demo with the 3-knob Xero... It isn't the greatest, but it does show how the Asgard sounds with the notch filter disabled and through a sweepable filter.

The last thing I need is another Big Muff, but I really want to try one of the different versions Blackhawk has been releasing lately. If he does a Civil War I might just have to get one.

Also seriously considering an Asgard v3 or small box Valhalla.

And now he’s got a new single knob booster for a very reasonable price. I don’t usually go for one knob pedals, but this one has some internal trim pots as well, so I’m tempted.
