The Asgard V2 definitely has my interest. I'm also considering the Electrofoods Oprichniki. They both sound great, but I can only swing one at the moment.

The Asgard V2 definitely has my interest. I'm also considering the Electrofoods Oprichniki. They both sound great, but I can only swing one at the moment.
It's hard to find bass demos of Blackhawk stuff, so for anyone wondering, the bass tone on Bongzilla's old albums is a good reference point for the kind of tones the Valkyrie can do (at least in my experience):
I had the chance to try out a Balrog distortion and Morgul boost this weekend.
Balrog is an extremely versatile dirt box. It can go from light to heavy clipping, and cut to boost on 3 bands of EQ, all of which are very useful.
Morgul is a really nice simple booster. I was expecting something fairly dirty with baked-in EQ, but it's actually amazingly transparent with just a hint of dirt if you set the Tone trim pot full on, and Gain to taste.
No low end loss on either of these. I'm impressed with everything I've heard from Blackhawk so far!

I just received my Asgard V2 in the mail and am trying to nail down my settings. What settings are you using? What are the knobs, left to right, and the two switches? It appears the the bottom 2 knobs are gain and volume, but I don't want to assume.

Both sound amazing! What version of the Morgul do you have, is it the CA3130EZ opamp or the 741 opamp version?
I was just borrowing the Morgul so I'm not sure. It had one of the nice hammered copper finishes, so I imagine it had the more expensive opamp too.
Here is a photo of where I ended up with regarding Asgard settings. Yes, the two bottom knobs can be thought of as gain and volume, but the volume doesn’t really act like a normal volume.
This is true of the Valkyrie too. "Clean" is not very clean at all, so it's best to think of it as having 2 separate gain voicings that can be mixed together.
I tried your settings and it sounds great. It's exactly what I was looking for. I put the not so traditional volume at 11 o'clock instead of noon. A mild pedal it is not. Lol.
So, I’m thinking of getting a fuzz from Blackhawk - either a Svarog Fuzz or a Mithrandir Fuzz… has anyone on this thread used either or have any opinions as two which one I should try?

Haven't played either, but I guess it's a question of whether you want something vintage Tonebender-ish (Svarog), or modern FZ-2-ish (Mithrandir). I'd probably go with the Mithrandir because it has that Blackhawk clean blend, which I enjoy a lot.
Asgard v3 is what I'll most likely order in the future. All those Muff variants are really cool also, but I dunno which one I would go for.
I almost forgot about the Blackhawkfriday sale! Ordered a hammered copper Asgard v3.
Asgard v3 arrived! As with other Blackhawk devices I've tried, the controls are highly interactive and also highly counterintuitive. It's going to take me a while to figure out, but one thing is clear: there's no lack of low end! So far I feel like the voicing leans towards crushing low mids and bass.
Just saw this. I have a Mithrandir. I’d say compared to my other octave fuzz pedals the octave function is more on the lighter accent side. Not a bad thing but if you are expecting octave rumble on top of the fuzz it’s not. Great sounding pedal and Blackhawk Amplifiers nails the EQ as usual. It’s a great fuzz but Blackhawk makes a lot of great fuzzes. Asgard is my favorite.
V3? What’s that? Not on his site. Whsts the difference between that and V2? I have the Asgard 2 in the 125 sized enclosure and love it.
V3 is missing from the site for some reason. It has a Bass - Mid - Treble tone stack rather than the Tone - Notch from V2.
Whew. Checked mine. It is 3. I guess I forgot. I got this about a year ago. It is hands down my favorite fuzz for bass and baritone. Reason is the EQ. No loss of lows and punchy mids but not hissy or noisy. Love this. I got the acid wash looking box. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants a gateway drug into sludgy deep thick gooey fuzz.
edit the clean blend is the best
I find that mine can be pretty noisy depending on where it is in the signal chain. I agree, the clean blend is great, but I'm gonna try it in the Broughton Filter FX Loop later today, since that usually improves most fuzzes.
