I find that mine can be pretty noisy depending on where it is in the signal chain. I agree, the clean blend is great, but I'm gonna try it in the Broughton Filter FX Loop later today, since that usually improves most fuzzes.

Sure. Filters and fuzzes generally both like to be first.
I have been in love with a filter fuzz from WestCo that splits the input so both sides process a clean signal. But the fx loop would basically do the same thing.

I've been using the Asgard v.2 for a few months and have fallen in love with it. I'm not using it for a heavy fuzz, but as kind of an overdrive at the end of my other fuzz/OD pedals. I was thinking about getting the v.3 and then figuring out which one is better for high gain and low gain, but I wanted to ask advice here first...

Does Blackhawk make a bass-friendly pedal that is more aimed at low-gain OD?

is the Asgard based on any particular circuit? or is it completely original?

Checking out the Asgard v3. Had a v2 and somehow to my ears the v3 seem a little more well put together in terms of how the various controls work as a whole…. and remembering what a great sounding pedal this is.

I won't speak for Matt and had an Asgard v2, not a v3 but the Asgard is in the big muff family while the Oxide is a Brassmaster/octave fuzz so the Oxide is much more of a synthy brash gated type fuzz while the Asgards will go more in the creamy sustain style muffs are known for.

The Oxide is solidly in the Brassmaster/octave fuzz family, with the morph giving it some splattery flavor courtesy of some gating me thinks. The Asgard v3 is more on the Muff spectrum, but its grain is more course, which I like, and it’s not as mushy as a Muff. So while the Oxide is rather brassy, the Asgard is not exactly Muffy, actually it’s kind of it’s own thing IMO. Both have a clean blend which is helpful, however I must add… everything sounds better through the Origin SV.

edit: I’ve got a Bluebeard on the way… I’ll have to compare it to the Asgard.

I agree, it's kind of hard to categorize the Asgard. It can get "clanky," which a Muff definitely can't do.
