there was a blackout in my neighborhood this past friday night, and i tell you this, when the lights went out, i went on!

the first thing i did was go into my basement and turn on the gas power generator, i then turned on the radio to see if wed been attacked?

after that, i got 7 gallons of spring water from my storage supply, put them on a pole, and hit the streets. i first went to all of the geezers houses to make sure they all had food and water and were ok, i then went to all the rest of the houses on the block, i was greeted with a smile by most, and a "thank you", by all.

by nightfall i had made "security sweeps" through everyones yards, one guy approached me and said "you got some big balls runnin around in the pitch dark like that, do you want a baseball bat?" i then stepped into the light cast by his flashlight and presented my fists...i then asked "what do you think princess?" he stood there in awe and i could see the goosebumps rise on his thighs.

the lights finally came back on and all was well thanks to my response. ive already received nearly 20 letters from people on my block saying "thanks for being there when we needed you". incredible.

You get a slow clap from me and an unimpressed look. If i continued talking i'd get political, so i guess i'd better keep quiet.

  8. I don't know what's going on, but yea... what Toasted said.

What...I thought we were all making fun of the original poster's attempt at humour....did I miss something else?

  14. ...

    Stunned. I mean....Huh?

I probably helped out more people's day by doing a good job at work. I guess I don't go on TB and state how I helped out the people I respect at work.

If it's a joke, then where's the damn monkeys? Nothing's funnier than monkeys.

    Just ask munjibunga.

edit: forgot the k in ask.

  15. Oh yeah? How about monkeys about to fling poo![IMG]

What I want to know is...did you do it out of genuine concern for your fellowman, or did you do it because you knew you'd get all kinds of attention and people praising you for your "heroic" actions?

Was he supposed to leave out the fact that they thanked him?

Hell if I know his intentions, but Ill assume the best.

Way to go man. Good to see you helped out people in need.

It does seem odd that youd make such a big deal out of it, but thats probably because Im used to the power going out frquently from storms.
