there was a blackout in my neighborhood this past friday night, and i tell you this, when the lights went out, i went on!
the first thing i did was go into my basement and turn on the gas power generator, i then turned on the radio to see if wed been attacked?
after that, i got 7 gallons of spring water from my storage supply, put them on a pole, and hit the streets. i first went to all of the geezers houses to make sure they all had food and water and were ok, i then went to all the rest of the houses on the block, i was greeted with a smile by most, and a "thank you", by all.
by nightfall i had made "security sweeps" through everyones yards, one guy approached me and said "you got some big balls runnin around in the pitch dark like that, do you want a baseball bat?" i then stepped into the light cast by his flashlight and presented my fists...i then asked "what do you think princess?" he stood there in awe and i could see the goosebumps rise on his thighs.
the lights finally came back on and all was well thanks to my response. ive already received nearly 20 letters from people on my block saying "thanks for being there when we needed you". incredible.
