yep nice looking amp i don't feel it's worth $2500 though so I am looking either ampeg 4 pro or GK2001 rb I wish GK would market the 1050 fusion that looked like a sweet upgrade from the 2001rb

Thanks for all that commented on this link. I really just wanted to get some feedback from other players that either own or have used a Blacksmith. I've had it for almost a year and have gigged with it exclusively. It's incredibly versatile. You can dial up just about any tone you want and they're all easily accessible via the foot switch. Well worth the money in my eyes. Made all my other gear superfluous. Doesn't hurt that is great looking as well. I pair mine mostly with a Mesa powerhouse 215 or a Genz-Benz 610, but it will drive whatever you give it with ease. Thanks again for the interesting input.....

I always use power conditioners with my gear. A lot of venues have dirty power plus it gives you multiple protected plugs in a concise package.

What happened to the Blacksmith pricing? Suddenly, Thomann has them for EUR1490. Used to be almost twice that.

Not that I'm complaining, just curious. At that price I might actually buy one.

Maybe they are going to discontinue the amp? Blow out prices in the EU, prices still holding in the US to cover importation cost?

You are probably right.
Also surprising is that this 1000€ price tag is listed as normal price (not a discount), who knows maybe it could go a little bit lower than that

Would be a shame to see it discontinued, unless it's getting a replacement (e.g., to include the TonePrint stuff that TC is pushing now). But I'd think we'd see a new RH before that.

On the other hand, it's a niche product and probably hasn't sold all that many units. So I could see them shutting down production, simply because of saving the labor to "hand make" them.

It also seems like TC has also fallen off the radar big time in the bass world for a lot of people since the whole "truth in advertising" power issue and then Uffy moving on. Sad, since I happen to like their bass amps, regardless of how much "real" power they have. I've been very happy with both my RH450 and Blacksmith.

How do you think this head would work with an Ampeg SVT810Av cabinet? The cabinet is rated for 800 watts and I'm wondering if I would be in danger of overpowering the speakers if I were to use the Blacksmith head.

Depends. How much are you determined to dime the master volume control, come hell or high water? Is your mind open to the possibility of turning it down when/if your speakers begin to show signs of serious stress?

I purchased a Blacksmith by tc electronics awaiting delivery. I welcome feedback from current tc electronic owners. I will berunning it into 2ea Ampeg BXT 4/10's (2ohm load) I did have a fender tb-1 preamp that i bi amped with a QSC RMX2450 running @ 1200 watts into 2 ohms sounded good so @ 1600 watts should give me plent of headroom.
I play a Gison SG Bass I will post pics when the smith arrives.

I have a TC Blacksmith now for a couple of years, maybe three. I was the 1st in Wisconsin to get one. Outdoors I run it into an Eden 8x10 that I rewired in a Series/Paralllel configuration, took out the silly Chinese crossover, removed the silly Chinese horn. I have never gone above the 10:30 O'Clock position on the volume knob. It never runs out of head room. Everyone plugs into the PA system. Not me. No need. I can melt kidney stones. Gall bladder stones. Scare little children in the next county. My band mates say only one thing to me. "Turn it down!" ..... and then I turn it up even more. Indoors I run it into a Custom KW Ultra-Bass Cab. Kurt Wyberanec beefed it up with even heavyier duty stuff to handle the extra power of the Blacksmith. Truly an amazing sounding cabinet. I have had now issues with the Blacksmith and truly love it. I can make just about any sound or tone I want with some very easy knob adjustments. When I need to compete with an insane drummer and two guitarist that both think they are Jeff Beck, I always win. Always. I used to carry around an Ampeg Heritage SVT-CL. With the case it was over 100 lbs. Plus breaking tubes with transport always sucked. Hope this helps. Enjoy.
