This is a 2 day build out of stuff I had laying around. The neck was a new neck I ordered that didnt work out , a blank paddle tilt back from carvin and the paddle part was too narrow for my project ( grabber replacement)
The body is a piece of extruded aluminium bleacher seat that i salvaged a few years ago from work and its aircraft grade T6. Very rigid with channels inside
The pickup is a Select by EMG that came off a yard sale strat copy ( the purple one next to it that has crazy good action, that I refinished and upgraded to what you see)....its a 6 string pickup ! Had no idea if it would work for a bass or not. It does ! The bridge plate was from a Squier I upgraded to a better bridge and custom cut a one piece brass saddle for.
Made a neck block to adapt the neck to the body. The block stops at the P bass position so basiclly this is a aluminum hollow body . I added a Schaller oyster double piezo and attached it to the back under the pickup. With its own jack and added a branch wire to tie it into the vol tone blend pots when they get here. So i have a option on outputs .
I had no idea any of this would even work, but the tone is great. Resonater cigar box- ish and has sustain for ever. As an example of what it can do. The bell intro into Hells Bells AcDc ... I can nail that bell with harmonics. The action is perfect for me. And this thing is so light weight its freaky. Its quickly becoming my favorite bass it just sounds so earthy, even if it looks weard. Build on !
