the blend pot of my Tobias 6-string was worn out, so I replaced it with a 250K blend pot. It's a real blend pot, so each "side" of the pot has a resistance of 0 ohm one side of the centre.
The problem: even more than the original one, almost all change of the pickup mix happens at the canter position of the blend pot. So, it the pot is centered, I have a nice mix of neck and bridge pickup, and if I turn it 1 degree to the left or right, I already have only 1 pickup already. If I tweak the pot VERY carefully, I can get the mix I want, but it's totally non-linear.
I'm thinking of replacing the master volume and blend pots with 2 linear pots, like a Jazz Bass... or is there a better alternative for the blend pot?? Would a blend pot with lower resistance (50 K or so) work better, or would it result in tone loss?? Mind you, the Bartolini humbuckers of my bass are wired parallel for this nice "hi fi" sound, so DC resistance is only 3K or so.
