blend pot problem after preamp install.

Hi everyone. I just installed an aguilar obp 3 in my ibanez sr 1205, the problem I'm having is the blend pot WONT work in the center position. It only works when it's in the bridge or neck position, never in the center. Im wondering if I got a defective pot. If anyone has any advice please post reply. Thanks Mike

Did it work before? It seems more like you've got a wiring error.

In the centre position both pickups shoud be connected to each other and to the preamp input with zero ohms (or very close to zero) between each wire. You can check that with a multimeter.

Alternatively, put the put on full neck and touch a wire between the two pickups' hot wires. This is supposed to simulate a correct pot being centred. Now, if you have no sound, it's because your wiring is grounding the signal before it can hit the pre. And if you have the sound of both pups, then you've a dodgy pot.

Good luck!

Ooh!Ooh!

It just occured to me that you might have the blend wired backwards so that instead of minimum resistance from both pups to the preamp in, you've accidentally got maximum resistance from both pups to the input instead. If you find that this is the problem, just rewire the pup hots so they're going to the opposite pin. (Email me with a photo if you can't understand this and I'll draw on it which things I think are backwards!).

Cheers!
