Wired tons of stuff in the past and had the same experience lots of times, enough so to where I threw this phrase out of my vocabulary: BUT I wired exactly to the diagram - because the bass told me NO IT'S NOT, it just looks like it. Current doesn't have eyeballs or a brain to get in the way.
Thinking that way is just getting in the way of getting the results you want. Have I checked the jack with a meter, does the blend have crossovers, can I simplify this circuit to make it work and expand on that - those are the kinds of questions that got results for me. This thing is wired correctly why doesn't it work correctly got me where you are now - and kept me there till that thinking changed.
