Blend pot vs tone pot for tone control

Why not just eliminate the tone control all together. Like a G&L SB-2 . I personally never use the things on my passive basses. And by not using I mean it’s always turned up full, in other words off.

I believe that was the OP’s thought as well, but things went in a different direction.

So when my Sire P7 is switched to passive the blend becomes tone.

1. What do I call the tone knob then?
2. When in active, is the blend no longer tone?

Why not cap to ground on one side of the blend pot and in-line cap the other side to make one roll off treble and one roll of bass? I'll have to try it.
