Blessed Samhain ...

Yeah the trick or treating kids are hating me. Each one that banged on my door for a handout got asked "and why do people celebrate Halloween?" or "Whats the history?" and when they couldn't tell me I said "Thats' why we don't celebrate it here. Bye kids"

Ouch. :bawl:

This is how the Grinch stole halloween. LOL. I actually didn't participate in the whole trick-or-treating thing for a long time... then I decided to pull the stick out of my a$$ and enjoy the secular and social aspect of what it has become. Of course, we still light candles and say a spell for those on the other side. :D

Boy, THAT'S a wonderful way to be popular in the neighborhood.

If I were a kid I'd probably make sure your house was egged and the trees were festooned with T.P. that night. In fact, I might even come back and do it as a parent. :D

what do you do if they answer correctly?
None did answer correctly, the closest I got was "people in America do it"...BUT I have kids, so if any did answer it right (or their parents for that matter) then I would have given them something.

You'd want to hope I don't catch you. We don't celebrate Halloween over here, so I wouldn't take too kindly to my house being egged after politely telling someone who didn't know what the celebration was for to find someone else who is into the idea of adopting yet another celebration.

Funny how noone celebrates Yom Kippur or Ramadan en masse here "just because"...it's not promoted like Halloween because theres no profit in fasting I guess :hiding:
