Blindfold test!!!

THE SCENARIO:


Someone sits you down,puts a blindfold on you:

They give you,let's say,10 basses to play.

Do you think you could pick your personal,most-loved,favorite bass (your baby!!),out of those 10 that were given to you to play???

If you could,how?Is it that tiny divot that drunk chick at the club put on your neck behind the 5th fret when she staggered into you while requesting a song?Is it the pick-up that's worn to a nice,comfortable "rounded-edge" from playing it too much(???)?

How well do you REALLY know your instrument???

I don't know my instruments very well, I just play them.

for starters my Jazz bass has a Rick-O-Sound wiring set up, no finish and a black silk scarf tied just above the nut. So by touch alone I would be able to pick it out.

The BTB I did 1500 gigs with....absolutely. That girl has been WORKED! There is a tiny dent on the back of the neck where my thumb rests in the 1st position. Can't remember how it got there. There is a worn spot where my thumbnail went through the (very thick) finish just up and to the right of the bridge pickup. The B string tuner has been very tight for a few years. There is a small dent in the end of the headstock. That's just the few things I can think of off the top of my head.

It's got fanned frets. There's not many about

Also, I know the way the neck laminates feel.

Without a doubt, I would know my Jazz bass... Other ones, not so much.... Ive spent countless hours with the Jazz in my hands, and I know every little nick and scratch on it.

Hmmm, probably... scratched pickguard just over the neck pickup, some belt rash on the back. The s1 switch is also useful here. One broken screw on the bridge/height adjustment screw). yeah, if i searched for it i'd find it. But if you just gave me the bass for like 10 seconds to play with... i dunno...

i would. the only thing i would confuse with my carvin XB76 is..well..another one. but, mine is really heavey, and has probably been gigged a few hundred times. its worn in. i'm pretty confident even up against another used XB76 i'd be able to know wich was mine.

I would. i have had my P bass less then a year but its unique modded with parts i picked out and its a great bass . I guess if someone handed me a p bass with the same pick ups it maybe hard ah plus i only have a volume knob so that would give it away easy
