I don't see me with a number, and IIRC there was some talk about people wanting them but there was no one stepping up to keep track and assign them.
I think I might have made a comment to the effect that you don't need to have a number to be a blues bassist -- you is, or you isn't...

I think I learned more about being a band leader from those guys than any other bands I've played in.

Cool, played that venue many a night ... they don’t do music now. I play the Blues Hall down the street from there now.

When I was 16 years old, my best friend Johnny's dad had a Blues band that mostly played juke joints.
Johnny was the drummer in his dad's band.
Hanging around Johnny exposed me to the Blues in places that I was too young to even be in.

My first time on stage was as a drummer, which was cool until the band played a fast shuffle.
That's when I found out, in a room full of people, that I was no drummer (at least not yet).
Of course my friend Johnny was sitting near by cracking up!!!

His dad went on vacation and asked me to play bass in his absence, which I did, and that's how I got my start.
Shortly after that, I joined a band of adults that did blues and R&B, and the rest is history.

Just kidding . I don't do as much blues as when I joined the forum but we still do blues tunes . Mike Morgan and a couple Jimmy Thackery tunes and quite a few more . Keeps us honest .
