Bluetooth speaker with good bass response

Not sure if this is the best forum, but...

I occasionally watch bass instruction videos on my laptop, and as you probably know, laptop speakers don't reproduce bass well at all. You can use headphones (and I have a good pair of studio monitors) but another solution I like to use is a bluetooth speaker. I've found that the JBL Charge series has excellent bass response--it's basically a woofer the size of a 20-oz. can of beverage with rubber-covered speakers on either end, with the midrange and tweeter speakers mounted on the front. It's also waterproof and can be daisy-chained.

This would also work in a band practice or rehearsal situation where you wanted to play a song from your phone or tablet loud enough for everyone to hear it, with good fidelity, but don't want to or can't hook into a PA. The speaker's loud enough to be heard over a sober drummer.

Agreed. A while back, when I was deciding which BT speaker to get, the Charge 2 was JBL's current model and its bass response was stellar for a speaker of that size.

I've got the JBL Pulse 3, mainly purchased for pleasure but it can really put out balanced, clear low end.

If this turns into a JBL-extollment thread, it would be rightly so. You could learn songs poolside with one of those things.

I use a Sony SRS-XB21 which sounds fantastic and had good bass response. It also has colored gee wiz lights that I always leave turned off.

I am a fan of Sony in general when it comes to speakers and earphones, they have usually been solid for the price going back to the 80s for me. When I was looking for a Bluetooth speaker I wanted a Bose like my buddy has, but they were stupid expensive and this Sony unit is cheaper and sounds better than his Bose in my opinion.

I have the jbl charge3 and use it with a lap top to make techno. It has good response and be fairly loud for a small tube speaker.

I'm waiting for one of the lesser known brands to come along with something that knocks all these guys off the shelf. I'm so sick of having to pay ridiculous amounts of money just to get good bass. I have JBL HT speakers at home and they sound good and the subs make good bass, but they are older models from the early 2000s and I did a lot of hunting and asking sellers questions, etc. I did fairly well however I still have a good chunk of change into them and they're nothing extraordinary even in their day.

I was impressed with Bose back in the day, a friends parents had a pair of 901s with the Jetson's stands and they sounded good but I couldn't afford them so I ended up with used Fishers and upgraded to used Cerwin Vegas. Another friend's sister had a Wave radio which was incredible for it's size but even though by then I could have bought one, I kept my stereo components and big box speakers because as good as the Wave did sound, it still couldn't touch my 3 way 15" woofer CV monsters. However, recently I bought a Soundlink mini or micro or whatever it is in orange based on rave reviews. I wanted a small BT speaker for outdoor activities and after trying a couple of the Amazon specials that had rave reviews I broke down and dropped a hundred bucks for the Bose and it failed to impress by a long shot compared to what I had expected after reading all these reviews about how awesome this thing was. I also have a Nissan Rogue with a premium 8 speaker Bose system in it which is a complete joke.

I had an old pair of JBL bookshelf speakers that were hand me downs. I believe they were L-52s. My uncle had used them for years and I got my share of use out of them and passed them on to another friend who sold them for enough to finance the entire audio system in his truck! However I recently was bombarded with recommendations for the Studio 570s AFTER informing these knucklehead "audiophiles" that I am a bass head. I was so disappointed in those things that I was angry and I went back to let them know how angry I was for listening to them and not just going with what I know. Sure they had ear killing tweeters and great midrange... But that's it! 0 bass! No wait, less than 0 bass. Negative bass! It's a good thing I got them on a huge Black Friday discount because had I paid $599 each for those things, people would have likely been hunted down and exterminated! Then I couldn't even get the discounted price I paid of $179 each back out of them! After hardly any use and replaced in the factory cartons, I had to fight to get $300 for the pair! How are they still selling those things for $599 a piece$ They're garbage!

So now I have collected an entire set of the old Venue series and have 2 full 7.1 systems that are connected for a total of 16 speakers in my apartment while I collect the Klipsch system that I want.

I got the BOSE Soundlink Bluetooth III for mixing purposes. Part of the devices that I test on. Great for playing music from Spotify. Gets pretty loud, max volume level is about 97dB.

I have the JBL Charge 5 and really like it a lot. The Charge 4 unit you're looking at is a bit cheaper yet it actually has a little better bass response listed on the spec sheet (it goes down to 60Hz).
