I had the same thought as skulletwhip when I heard it.
I wasnt aware of the TB basses. WOW. Those things look and sound awesome! Just, wow. It would be nice to grab one of those someday. So cool.
I would rather have a G&L ASAT or L2000 if you want that style of agressive. My L2000 tribby was pretty badass but believe it or not the quality was very poor on the one I received so I brought it back to the store and picked up a Gibson EB on year end closeout. Never looked back. I love the tones I get from the Gibby.
I would definitely pick up another G&L but I would spring for the USA model. If I can ever afford one.
I can get pretty close to the Weston tone with just about any bass with roundwounds through the Rusty Box, but my Ric definitely does it best. No tweeter is another must IMO (the Rusty can get pretty harsh through a brighter cab). I haven't tried mine through 15s like Weston though
Between the Rusty and B3K I definitely am more of a Rusty fan, they actually do stack really well though (with Rusty on a low Gain and B3K on a medium Gain/medium Blend I got some really great P-bass tones). I find them to be in a similar tonal universe, and even planned to replace my Rusty with the B7K when I got one but still much preferred the tight grindy punch of the Rusty no matter how much I tweaked the B7K (which I no longer have). I actually think I can get closer to my fave Rusty/Weston tone with the DG VMT Deluxe than the B7K which I found surprising inch. Something about the way the mids punch differently.

I think I need to get a rusty box. My P can get really close. With my B7K, submarine, SA PEQ and possibly the BDPG I can get super close. But I'm thinking of when I can afford it, the rusty box may replace the submarine for a bit and see how that goes.

The only downsides for the Rusty for me are its sorta funky power requirements (it can be run on 18 volts though if you get a polarity reversal cable) and the sorta unusable Boost footswitch (kinda like the Aguilar Tonehammer's AGS, hitting the Boost raises the volume way too much to be useable for most folks so you will probably just leave the Boost on always or never!). I would think it would have kinda the opposite enhancement effect of the Submarine in that it tightens and brightens more so than adding subs.

Yeah the sub adds this thing to my signal. I don't really know what it does. But whatever it is, it's cool. And I can tell it's there. Never really paid attention to exactly what it does. It seems to tighten for me. It's not really subby. Not the way I set it anyway.

Ah- I've never played a Sub, but just heard many people describe it as helping to thicken other pedals that can be a little anemic. I guess the Rusty thickens in a sense by focusing the tone from the rest of the chain in a pleasing way (at least for me). I actually rarely even use mine anymore, but keep it around as I could imagine going back to it for things outside my main band ( for my main band the DG VMT/Deluxe replaced it as it seems to sit a bit better with my flatwound-strung basses).
