I am a novice at message boards but I might have a little information about some old tube amps... I was encouraged to start a thread here about some of the stuff I have. So I'll start with the SVT's. I have been playing through these amps since the late 70's and wouldn't consider anything else. I have many more than are pictured here (and other stuff) but I thought it might be fun to let you guys know that there is someone out there that still goes through the trouble to actually USE these great amps.

Interesting to see the XLR speaker cables - I thought that was a Trace only thing. When was Ampeg doing those?

Started in 1960 or so with the B15 using an octal plug, eventually they changed to the 4 pin plugs like these, and they were included on the early SVT and B25 amps, among others. They were phased out in the early 70s. The design was intended to prevent the amps from coming out of standby without being plugged into a cab.

I love standing in front of my amp and feeling it move my pant legs, I can't imagine what it would feel like

The rectangular power cord anchors rarely survive on vintage amps. Same for the plastic fan finger guards, it doesn’t take much for them to crack.

All those Ampeg SVT heads and cabs remind me of the 100% Ampeg backline for the Rolling Stones when their 1972 Summer tour rolled through Washington, DC for their show at RFK stadium. They really rocked the place. I was in the upper deck and the place got so rollicking crazy during "Midnight Rambler" that I thought the stadium was going to literally come crashing down.
