I totally expected the bass version of the Wangcaster when I opened this 
My teacher has an early 90's model with the big-pole pickups (Delano style) in a nitro sunburst finish and maple board with flats. It is one of the nicer basses I've ever played. One day I may work up the $$$ to buy it off of him. I really dig the modern shape but the vintage overall look they have.

Thats a jazz Plus control layout. They came with kubicki pre-amps and lace sensors. This one must have replaced them with barts. I have the same bass bought new in 93. Im pretty sure mines a 92 because i must have passed it in the store for a year before i bought it.
I had to pay an extra 100$ for the clear ash.
Nice lookin basses, but I think all the "boner" basses have the upper horn extending to about the 11th fret. Your boner doesn't look that long, just sayin... but some darn nice wood just the same.

Can you tell if a regular Jazz Bass case work with that bass?
It won't. That's how I learned I had an annomoly.
You need to be careful with that kind of talk around a boner bass... Just sayin... isn't only guitars that get bruised.

i have just recently been able to grab a bargain!, workmate of mine bought her 93 boner bass brand new and played it for about 7 years,then its just lay in its original hardcase since.
i took one look at it and made her a offer.........done deal.
i have stripped it down,cleaned it up and now looks brand new again,its an odd colour though, i think its auqua marine? or light green? with white pickguard..some one may know better.
its the smoothest and fastest playing bass i have ever played..brilliant.
i did homework on this particular "limited model" and according to some,fender claim these basses were all made with the best qc and highest quality , i aint complaining.
im new to this forum,so i will try and get some pics of it uploaded

The QC is incredible on these. I worked for a Fender dealer back when I got mine ('92), and was amazed at the fretwork. Easily, as good as today's. And the neck / body route.... tighter than any bolt on I've every seen. However, the design had a few flaws..... namely, the bridge/string spacing being much too wide. The E and G strings are very easy to pull of the neck. The pups were / are horribly tame.
I agree fully,for a 17-18 yearold bass,its amazing.However,i agree with bridge spacing,ive gigged twice with it so far and the g string is pulling way off the fretboard....saying that im using heavy guage 110-50 rotosound roundwounds.....
bridge 10, neck 5, tone 10, wow! this thing cuts through 2 guitarists in a live setting, very nasal and growls...i love it.but i have been reading quite a bit people running flatwounds on their jazz basses, im going to give this a try and see how this old girl sounds with them on her !
probably replace the bridge with a badd ass 2,that may cure the spacing issue, i have found the pickups still have plenty loads of life in them.
all in all i have got myself a great bargain,....excellent
Very cool. I put a BAII on mine almost right away ('93 I guess.... the bass is a '92), and that did the trick. I also threw in a set of the SD Antiquities back then. The standard pups were a bit thin and tame. It's an incredible sounding, and playing axe. The extended upper horn really helps it balance well on the strap. It kinda helps distrubute the weight across your shoulder a bit nicer. On the strap, it doesn't feel any heavier than my '08 MIA P, which is incredibly light.
Be careful with your tone control.... it's the TBX tone circuit. From off up to the dentent, it's acts as a standard tone control. Above that, it brings up the highs. It kinda sounds active way up.

plus 1 on the extended upper horn,as i have noticed a well balanced feel,i play pretty low,with fingers o the bridge pup,and its really cool....on the tbx tone circuit,i hear you....im running it through a line 6 low down 400 combo,and use mainly the rock setting which is the ampeg 72,but when i go clean or super bass marshall amp setting with 10 on the tone,yes,it does sound active....by god,it cuts through my two guitarists and we play metal,hard rock and classic rock....
i think the badass 2 is the way to go and im dying to try some rotosound jazz 77 flats or steve harris flats.....just to make it sound even more unconventional!........
on the tone again, ive been playing around with both pups opened up and knocking the tone back to centre detent 5, and this thing really really growls........im sure in a few years these basses will be something of a collectors item....
