Hello! I have just learned of these basses and have a possible trade in the works to grab one. One thin is that the neck has been replaced with a "power jazz special neck". I guess the original was ruined. The body looks great being white on white. The neck has a graphite looking headstock? I have never seen one before. Any ideas what this would be worth? Unfortunately, I can't try it as it's a trade from out of town! Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

HI ALL just got this today .would love a number ..if anyone is giving them out. great tone.feel and with the flame and birds eye in the neck and satin finish not sure why these never caught on. this baby has EMGs and a preamp that i can get pretty much any tone i want.. 89 boner bass

Anyway, nice score..... but man, change out that bridge! I cringe when I see the original bridges on these.

Save yourself some money ....... just get a plain old fender vintage style bent plate. I ran a BAII on mine for years..... finally changed it out for the bent plate, and realized the BA did nothing but add a bunch of extra weight.

I have a 1992 P Bass Plus Deluxe that I bought new in 93.
I am not sure if it's a true boner bass. Maybe someone can clue me in. Thanks

Stewie, yes, it is a Precision Plus Deluxe, AKA "boner".

I just recently purchased the same bass ('92) from a fellow TB'er (waiting for FEDEX truck to pull up any moment for the delivery). The Plus Deluxe differs from the Plus by having a downsized body, active EQ, only 2 controls, and no pick guard.

I personally love the simple and sleek design of this bass, and if it plays anything like it looks, papa is gunna be a happy camper.

Is that a FEDEX truck I hear.....?

I recently found a Precision boner bass in a local pawn shop. It had a P/J pickup config but I think the J was added as a mod. There are some strange switches on the pg too. Not sure what year it was but it was MIA. They were selling it for $900.

OK guys this is now going to be my main player.WOW this bass has it all and then some.now to change the bridge... for the string spacing just is not what i am used to..but other than that this bass is probably the best Jazz I have played other than my first jazz which sadly i had to get rid of many years ago.

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't consider those boners. My horn stretches to the 12th fret.

Nice looking instruments, though.
