Bongo for Bonzo

Well, not for Bonzo, but I'm Bonzo for my new Bongo:hyper: I have been bass browsing for the last month or so and kept being drawn back to this black and gold special edition 5 string Bongo. So I gave in and bought it today. I will let the pics speak for themselves.

I have been definitely been going ape since I got this bass. The neck pickup definitely adds major thump to the bottom end, the bridge pickup almost has that Stingray edge to it. Different beast from the Stingray 5's I have played and the OLP copy that I own.

I love that smooth, clean sound you get with both pups panned equally and a touch of bass boost. Smooth like butta. I panned 3/4 to the bridge pup and added some mid boost and it growls like a Ric on steroids. I got a lot more experimenting just to get the feel of the 4 band eq and pup combos.

Hopefully I can say this without it coming off as "bashing" the Bongo, but I was never a big fan of their looks. I kind of thought they were too, I don't know, "Hey, check me out!", at least for my tastes. However, I'll admit that I've changed my opinion somewhat after trying them in stores a few times recently. But that, THAT'S a Bongo I really like. It's got a subtle, classy look to it.

Really nice looking bass!
