Bongo GAS.

Bongo's are nice, I wish I had the six, but the five works fine:

I would like a 6er or a 4string. I have heard stuff like its stingray pups with a sterling preamp. Or is it the other way around? I like white painted necks, so I want this bass in white or something else unique. I find the colors on the site too generic. Maybe a dargie-delightI (thats what its called right?) in HS. I played a SR5 once with HS and IMO I liked it better than the HH stealth ray 4. IMO of course I think its the superior pup config on EBMMs

This is my 1st season with my new Bongo. I'm thinking that choosing the Bongo for my 1st fretless 6'er was a wise choice...but what do I know; I've never played, much less owned, a fretless 6'er before. I chose the Bongo because I knew a fretless 6 would be quite the challenge for me, so I wanted the most comfortable production instrument available.

I'm amazed at how different it sounds than my other EBMM's. It really only mimics the sound of a 'Ray at best. It's its own instrument entirely. The EQ is very effective and powerful. It'll be interesting how I feel about her at the end of the season. But I'm already thinking she's a long term keeper.

BTW: How'd you blend the pups in the songs "Que No Te Haga Bobo Jacobo" and "La Candelosa"? They sound different but my 2 favorites of all your stuff (well that I've looked at:) )

Both videos have the same settings: Both blend knobs at the center detent position (not favoring any particular pickup) and same EQ (low mids at the center detent positon and the other three frequencies slightly past flat by the same amount -around +1-). I've just compared them and "Jacobo" has an overall louder mix, so I think it was my "mistake" during the editing process. Aside from that, the only reason I can think for the tonal differences is the strings (DR Hi-beams for both videos, but maybe one set older than the other).

I'm waiting patiently for my first couple of paychecks from my new job to get a bongo. So, you're not the only one with major Bongo gas right now.

Alvaro, I love the tone you got in the youtube video you posted, btw. I've been watching a lot of your vids lately. But, for some reason I hadn't watched that one yet.

One thing I'm wondering is. Could anyone comment on the playability compared to a Schecter Elite 5? I know that supposedly it's very easy to play, but so is my elite. ;)

Sweet none the less. I like the color of it with the fingerboard, good combo.

@T. Alan Smith - That's a fantastic looking bass!

Thanks. :) The combination really clicks in person with the vintage p/g. I wish I could have gotten piezos with this model, but that's only on the Bongo 5 or 4.
I'm giving serious consideration to a Reflex 5 to replace my 'Ray 5H. Piezos would put that over the top, but it doesn't look like EB is offering that option either. :(

I think the Bongo is fine the way it is.
