Bongo HH vs. Stingray HH

OK, so what's the difference between the Bongo HH and the Stingray HH? Is there a huge tonal difference?

Is there any difference in p'ups or electronics?

What about a difference between the Stingray 5HH p'ups/electronics vs. the Stingray 5 single p'up/electronics?

Just wondering why Bongos seem to be so big of a hit but the hype around the Stingray 5HH's don't seem to be as big...I mean, they should sound similar, right?

2 Different animals. I own both. Different pickups, different body wood (Stingray/Ash) / Bongo (Basswood) . Bongos have the sickest midrange control and can produce the craziest harmonics you will ever hear on a bass. Both great basses that is why I own both. Bongos are REALLY comfortable to play too!

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. I'm not sure if I'm a Basswood guy though. Do they make any with other body woods?

I personally like the sound all of them make. The Neo is probably my fav, as it gets a wide spectrum of sound. IMO/IME ceramic gets a nice kinda clanky high/mid grind thing, which works cool in sound. Alinco is kinda a warmer bottom, with lots of high end treble response.

Neo is just there.

Thanks again! I would love to try out a Bongo but there is nothing here in Bakersfield. I will be in L.A. in a week, for a week, and am going to try out some GC's and other shops to see what I can find. Know of anywhere that has a 5'er HH in stock? I think I saw one once at a GC in Pasadena near where I'm staying, so I will call around and find one.

Thanks! I will probably play one, love it, and order one in stealth black.

What do you guys think of the consistency across different basses? Sometimes in production basses you might play one that you love and then order a new one only to be disappointed when it gets there. Know what I mean? That's happened to me with an SR5 HH and a Fender Custom Shop (yes...custom shop!!). I know each instrument is different, but I don't want to play one in a butt ugly color I hate, love the sound and then get stuck with a piece of crap that just got off the wrong side of the assembly line. I guess that could happen with custom jobs too, but still...

As far as consistency Music Man is top notch. The difference is the setup that you give it. I am telling you you say you don't like basswood.....you will after you play a Bongo. There is a reason they chose that would bro!
