So I thought I would share a stupid story from the past.
Our college band was invited to play a huge house party during the Little 500 weekend at Indiana University. Great time, but a weird experience.
We were a jam band, that played 50/50 originals to covers. We were not going over very well, and the crowd started yelling for us to play Matchbox 20 tunes. We were in the middle of "Fire on the Mountain," and we heard screams of "Play a cover!" Obviously not the crowd we were geared to play for.
We decided that it would be best if we just stopped and started to party, which we did.
About 2am, one of the girls who was throwing the party came running into the house crying that she was groped by some dude in the house next door. (It was kind of a block party) 10 min later there was a huge fight out in the street, maybe 20 vs 20. Horrible scene.
4am- everyone is starting to pass out and a few of us are trying to fall asleep in the basement. I was having a tough time sleeping on the floor with only my jacket, when I hear this exchange between a young drunk female and our drummer on the coach.
Girl: So, you're in the band?
drummer: yep
Girl: what instrument do you play?
Drummer: The drums
Loooooong pause....................
Girl: "You can't have a band without a drumer."
drummer: I guess thats true
I couldn't help it, and started laughing out loud at this girl. Our drummer heard me, and started laughing hysterically. The poor girl got up, started crying and left the basement.
I later apologized for ruining the hook up, but the drummer was just grateful that someone else heard what happened.
