boss blues driver in a bass

anyone tried it?

i heard once that it's great for bass as well, but won't it eat all the low end?

hope this gets some replies. feel like trying one, but i'd like to hear some opinions first.

I've never tried it and never heard of a bassist trying it, so try it in the store and see what you think.

i used to own one...it sounded good, but it DOES suck out some noticeable bass...while i owned it, i used it in front of my emma discumbobulator in a loop w/ clean blend...i have since gotten rid of it as i have stripped my rig down...it was a pretty awesome sound in that situation, and it was great without the filter, but it still needed some clean bass under it to make it sound best

theres also a keeley mod to the blues driver to make it enhanced for bass, and the soundclips he had sounded very natural and smooth...check that out if u get a chance

Having played with the keeley modded version and a regular one I can say that the mod helps alot. You still lose some low end but not much and it is not very noticable even down on a low B. I think there are better options out there for an overdrive at similar prices but it is a solid pedal and sounds good.

I should also add that I for some reason have a inclanation to not like boss pedals. I am not shure why, as I have not had any bad expirences with one. But I feel this is one of the better ones out there. Expescially with the mod.

I brokered the sale of one from a friend to the guitarist I play with and got to fiddle with it for a few weeks. It wasn't bad - it just wasn't worth it. Does that make sense? I was getting louder, but not enough tone difference to make it worth my effort/cash. The guitarist (and another friend who borrows his gear when we play together) LOVE it, but that's beside the point. Good luck.

I own one and used it for my bass sometimes. It sucks out some bass, but not as much as my guitar wah pedal. Still does suck out some low end though. Go try it out and see if it sucks out too much low end for your liking.

I've heard that pedal work well on bass. I figure at a low gain setting, you'll get a nice grit. here's a clip of all bass distortion pedals demoed on bass.

I tried my BD-2 on my bass. it sounded OK, but it was nothing special, so I never really bothered to do it anymore.
Then again, I'm not all that big on effects for bass, so take that for what it's worth.

I believe the Hardwire CM-2, might be what your looking for and works really well on bass
