Boss GE-7B or GEB-7

Recently I was advised that the Boss bass equalizer is a very handy tool for playing live. I've decided to get one, but the problem is there are two models on the market. Which one of them is better? What is exactly the difference between them? Also, does anyone used one combined with the old trusty Sansamp BDDI?

The old model (GE-7b) does have controls for 1,2 and 4 kHz, the newer one skips from 850 to 4.5 kHz leaving a
huge gap, maybe they thought it was more modern?

I personally like the PQ-3b, the parametric eq. With a parametric you set your own desired frequency and work from that.

I second the PQ-3B.

Graphic EQs certainly have their place; sometimes you just need to boost or cut specific frequencies. But the PQ-3B is beyond a tone shaper - it's a tone sculptor!

I'm pretty happy with my GEB-7, despite the gap. It works great with a Sansamp, which the majority of my live playing has been through the past couple of years.
I'll likely trade the EQ for something with 10 bands later, but it works well enough for now. I have other things to get first.

Me too. Very quiet, silent switching / no harsh click when you step on it unlike some true bypass pedals. I don't detect any loss of tone with it in the chain, plus great re-sale value. Don't get too hung up on the frequency points and "gaps" as it also depends on the Q factor (bandwidth) of the EQ points. eg. A wide Q factor even though it says 10Khz, could also apply to some extent to 6-10Khz. Try it out and listen to what your ears tell you. To me it sounds really musical, no regrets buying one.
