boss gt-100

I'm pretty sure this is possible on the GT-10B, in which case I'm sure it would be on the GT-100. Tracking and sound quality is another matter.

how is the pitch shifter on the gt 100? i also wanted to know if it was possible to add a second shifted pitch, up and octave and a 5th, giving a powerchord on a guitar sound doubling my bass on the unit.

Yes you can, either with the pitch shifter (either pitch shifter in FX1 and FX2), add two voices at fixed intervals, or you could use the Harmonist and add two voices (or both harmonists and add 4 voices) with intelligent chordal intervals.
You can also add the pitch shifter and move the whole tone up an octave and then do the harmony. While keeping the bass in the second channel un-effected.

With the Boss GT's you can use many effects without any DSP limits (like the Pod HD).

Please excuse my naivety with this but - with all you have written above, am I to simply go through every parameter and match your suggestions or is there a shortcut? Such as; a preset from which to base this on?

Thank you again :)

Just got mine:

You have to go through and edit each parameter, but I was able to do it in 3 minutes so it's not a big deal.

and gumtown, thank you for pointing me to this pedal. I just got it last night and was able to dial in a set-list worth of effects in an hour. I love the new "no-menu" approach.

Once I really get to test the full boundaries of this unit I will write a review on here, but you bring up one of the early snags I ran into

1) tuner has trouble with the E, and is even worse with a low B
2) the slow gear has trouble tracking a low E (haven't even attempted a low B)

Otherwise, I love this thing so far. Great unit and is stupid easy to program.

Hi thanks for your reply. I have to agree it's a brilliant Multi FX pedal. I'm megga impressed with it. There's nothing to stop me using a clip on tuner if necessary. An excellent kit for Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar & Bass, even though not advertised as such, It makes it a no brainer if your on the market for a multi Fx Board. It doesn't get better than this.

One thing I'm trying to figure out how to do with the GT-100 that I could do with the GT-10B is to use it like a digitech whammy. On my GT-10B I had it set up so that with the pedal up, I was adding a 5th(7 semitones) and by pushing the pedal down it would bend that to an octave up, while keeping the dry signal mixed in. On the GT-100, it works a little differently and I'm not seeing how I could do that with just the pedal, closest thing I've found would require the use of the ctl pedal and the expression pedal. Other than that, the natural and full range preamps sound great, speaker simulation is a bit better once you tweak it and the effects and menu are just big improvements over the GT-10B

I'd like to say even some of the clean sounding guitar based preamps add a nice character to the bass. Use a custom speaker cab and have an even mix of mic and direct signals and it responds quite nicely, can get too boomy even while tweaking the simulations. Effects sound better too, and the interface is much nicer to work with when setting up patches.

digging up an old thread, but am strongly thinking about buying this thing. And was wondering if you all are still as positive as a couple of months ago…
I can get an 10b for half the price of the gt100. Really like the 10b, but haven't heard the gt100. So wondering if I should get it….

I wanted the GT100 initially because it was more conservative in appearance been totally black. The two screens are excellent. The usability is excellent out of the box for the guitarists, but not for the bassist. It was great getting such professional help on here. I just found the GT100 a bit confusing altering patches that were titled for guitarists - even though you can make them your own for Bass. I suppose I've been too long using the GT10B. From a sound perspective the GT100 excellent. The tuner for the low E remains a major issue for me. So I have reverted to using the GT10B. Just my situation. I wish I could solve my issues with the GT100. Boss should release an update which include the GT10B patches. (or some of)

to juan,

Yes. Still as positive as I was. I have completely given up on the tuner though and just keep a clip-on tuner on my bass. I love the ability to easily flip through patches and have several effects available at one time.

Additionally, I'm starting into the world of electric guitar and this offers a pedal that covers both worlds very well. As Bassman stated, I would love to see some more updates for bass related patches.

I will make this note however: I just picked up a Zoom B3, and if you really only need ~3 effects for a song, that pedal is fantastic. If you need more and want REALLY easy programming: go with the GT-100. If you are okay with lots of menus and want a plug and play pedal for bass right out of the box, go with the GT-10b.

Thanks Mgalat,

Looked at the b3 as well. But I also play guitar (mainly bass though) and bass VI, so I think maybe the gt100 is the best option then. I'll just have to keep my polytune on my pedalboard for now, and hope for a firmware update....

Thanks again!

Thanks so much mr gumtownbassman!

Am loving your patches. It's very nice to dig into them and see how they are made. Some have a lot of active effects and still sound very clean. Just minor adjustments to get the right tone...!

So far very happy with my purchase. I'll report back here if I come up with a few patches worth sharing!
