An update on where I am at today.
I see that the firmware update of the Boss GT-1000, they have added Bass amps and Bass effects, so this is now essentially a GT-1000B too.
I have previously sold my GT-100 long ago, been using the Roland GR-55 (a superb bit of kit) for many years.
I have now retired my GR-55, it has been used that much that it is physically worn out, and I want to move away from using the GK-3 add-on pickup.

I have been looking around for a replacement and have long wondered whether to get the GT-1000 (more so since the Bass update),
but have also seen the new Fractal FM3 about to launch, which is a compact floor unit based on 1/2 of an AxeFX 3.

But as fate would have it, I found a very good deal on a used Helix Lt and have just brought it this last week.
I very much like the bass preamps, cabinets, and many of the effects, but the playing dynamic is different to the Boss gear.
Not as much 'dynamic picking feel' and slightly over compressed, but the sound coming out of the speaker is superb.
The latest firmware 2.80 update brings in some great bass amps like the Ampeg SVT 4 Pro.
The unit is a little bit larger than what wanted, there is the HX Stomp but only limited to 6 effect/amp/whatever blocks.

Will try the Helix for a while and see, I could ending trading it for a GT-1000.

I'll be waiting for your conclusion about this,as I'm interested in the comparison.

I have since sold my GT-100 and landed a GT-1B (used at a excellent price).
I agree about the toyish construction, it is solid, but I don't like the feel of the buttons, I may try spraying some lube on them to ease the action.
The EXP pedal is really small but works well.
The GT-1B has some good bass amp models (including G.K. and Mark), and the COSM engine is a little more refined compared to the GT-100.

If you don't mind adding an external EXP pedal, then have a look at the Boss MS-3 (has bass effects) or the SY-300 (no amp modeling but crazy synth tones).

I am still waiting to hear bass demos of the new Boss GT-1000, it is really next level up from the GT-100,
and I heard a rumor there might be a GT-1000B in the works sometime.

How would you compare GT1B with the Zoom B3n. I own the later but I wonder if I could get better tones with a GT1B.

I still have a GT-1B but have not tried the Zoom B3N.
in comparison to the GT-100, the GT-1B has slightly more advanced/refined amp modelling (since it is angled for bass players and newer COSM modelling tech).
One thing I don't like about the GT-1B are the footswitches, they don't seem positive switching, feeling a little sticky/squeaky when they get a bit dusty down the sides,
but a bit of light spray lube fixed that.
Overall the GT-1B is excellent value for money, which can only be topped (for Boss products) by the GT-1000.

You read my mind. I was going to ask what would be the best multi effect for bass, into a reasonable price range.
