I'm close to pulling the trigger on the quad cortex BUT... Helix has my interest and might have a new model soon. Now this came out and if they do a 1000 I'd be all over that. Ugh... too many choices.The GX-1000 is probably going to be pretty sweet though

BOSS GX-100

Helix never did it for me, was to do with the picking dynamics and play response, the latest Boss stuff does very well for that.
And I never really needed the dozens on branded amp sims, just ones that sound good.
Thank you for that, I loved the feel of the core. I'll just wait for the GTX2000?
Damn, it's Boss's first with a touchscreen. I read the very first ever with a touchscreen.....what age doesn't do with ones eyes hey
At 599$ this may just fall within my budget secondhand somewhen. The touchscreen is a seriously good addition. I used the Headrush Gigboard before and while it didn't do it for me, its touchscreen was a joy to work with. Gonna have to sell some vintage drums to finance the GX-100, but seeing I was already drooling over the Core, this may just be the perfect unit.... 
The three Amps (Natural, Concert, X Drive) are just a starting pointing to building and sculpting any tone you can imagine. All the tools are there to do it including Speaker Sim, User IR, Parametric EQ. But the real fun is bi-amping and dual channel processing.
Just checked and this thing is 18" x 8" in size. Considerably wider than an HX Effects, so it's not exactly pedal board friendly. I personally would be wanting something this size to be a standalone multifx that I could grab and go.
Zoom have paid very careful attention to how their multi fx might actually be used by gigging bass players with their B6 and have provided some excellent DI out options. The Line 6 Pod Go, which this seems to be being pitched at, also has a balanced out. So it seems a very obvious missed opportunity for players who want to go directly into their PA or FOH.
For me the biggest omission, however, is Boss leaving out some of their most attractive fx from this and the GT 1000 Core e.g. OC5, SY-1 etc.

I've had the GX-100 for a few months to use for at home guitar/bass, pratice thru KRK monitors. Works great on guitar, but has not been easy to dial in the a bass patch I like. I really like my Tech 21 Geddy pedal for live etc.
I crated a patch that I really like now, here's the flow:
- Input level set at 18 for a P-bass (very important to get the level high just below clip)
- PEQ - use HP and LP filters and up the level about 7
- Bass X-Compressor - mild compression 2/1 - set levels and high tone up some
- Divider for dual signals - 1st - Amp "Natural Bass"
- with York 410 Ampeg bass IR (the 57 and 52 mics are great) - EQ after. 2nd - signal route is just the Bass X-OverDrive (sounds similar to a SansAmp - darkglass) with EQ after (the X overdrive is foot swith on/off not set to default On - the EQ is always on)
- Noise supressor
- Reverb - Hall - very low in the mix
It takes effort to dial it in (use your ears to EQ not the dial numbers) and it's the first all digital multi-effects that I've liked for bass. The York IRs are really good, the GX is a bit bass/low end heavy overall so an IRs that works on other effect units may be muddy on the GX (it's not a flaw IMO); so search IRs for ones that sound good to your ear. The "original IR" for the Natural Bass amp in the GX is good; but I think the York is better IMO. I ended up choosing the York Ampeg 410 52 mic OA (off axis) #2 (phase aligned) IR. The Ampeg 410 57 CE (center edge) was good too. I don't care for this cabinet in person or for a rig, but that doesn't matter, the IRs sound good.
It has stereo L/R 1/4" outs and 1/4" headphone out; I run into a stereo DI box to the monitors; the 1/4 outs are not ballanced but are quiet.

Can you share some audio/video samples? Youtube hardly has even a single video dedicated for bass sounds from this unit. I am very much interested in buying it, but how can I justify the purchase without hearing ATLEAST something?
I agree, that there is not a single video to be found of bass playing through a GX-100.
The GT-1000 has a similar tone I am told, so I guess GT-1000 bass videos will give a general idea on the tone.

So what is the verdict on this unit? Does it really offer plenty for bass players?
I think the Boss GX100 can offer things for bass:
- Effects only use - If you just want to use it for the dozens of digital reverbs, delays, chours type effects it can do it well for bass. They really do sound like the Boss pedals for these types and work well on bass.
- Again, the "Natural Bass" amp for bass does sound the best to me. The York Ampeg 410 52 mic OA (off axis) IR is really good (less than $20 for this IR pack from York audio). The original IR in the boss unit for the natural bass amp is good too.
I think it helps to keep a patch for bass simple, just like a real pedal board, if you put too much in the signal path it can make it hard to dail in.
I prefer my all analog pedal board for live gigs as I don't need dealys etc. But if I had multiple insturments or needed delays and effects live, I would use this GX.
It does take a bit to learn how to program the unit, but is easier that most others on the market IMO.

Well, after weighing several multi's against one another, the GX-100 comes out best. At 569€ new in Belgium it's gonna be my next unit.
It’s not my video… but i think the creator of this video has recorded all sounds in direct out mode via USB. Whether he recorded a dry signal first and then reamped, I have no clue.
