Playing in cover band with a broad, multi-decade set list can be challenging tonally and effects wise as you all know. Been searching for right combination of single stomp boxes and gone through some digital effect pedals as well in search of getting all the sounds right.
Stumbled upon a Boss ME-50B and man it can do everything with rich lows and what a plethora of useable effects. I spend half a day programming all the sounds I need for our four hour set and it did everything plus some Chris Squire inspired tones since he was the one who got me to pick up the bass.
We played for a couple thousand last night at a university block party and the sound men and the rest of the band were complimenting my tone.
What I used last night:
Drive, compression, two synths, fuzz, octave down, heavy reverb, slap back and longer delays, chorus and clean. All fat and juicy. $150 used for a big win.
