Hi , im thinking about getting a boss me50b too use in my rig that i use with my band . i already have an epiphone thunderbird , an ampeg ba600/115 , an ehx big muff and small clone . my band play anything from alternative rock to alternative metal . im really interested in using effects such as wah , tremolo , chorus , synth , octaver and others and could also use a built in tuner and a compression unit . would you reccomend the me50b for me ? if not what other multi effect unit should i get ? cheers

Boss ME50b

Don't. The ME-50B was the biggest waste of money to me. It has tons of useful effects but they all are very subpar. I've never used any multi-effects unit that I felt worked as well as individual pedals, personally, but of all the units I tried, the ME-50B was the worst by a long shot.
I'd recomend some cheaper individual pedals, like Danelectro.
PS, you're looking at the ME-50B with all these effects thinking you'll use them, but IME they all sound pretty gimmicky and I almost never use the effects I thought I would (Synth, Chorus, Octave, Wah, etc.)

Line6 M9 with an expression pedal. It's about the same size with a whole bunch more versatility.
I didn't hate my ME50, and got a lot of use out of it, but I would never go back after owning a M13.

For a studio application it's perfectly fine.
I find the synth features pretty much sub-par... get a Moog if you want to do that stuff...
But the compressor is pretty good... the Aguliar Tone-Hammer is better.
The strengths are the delay/modulation features. The chorus and reverb are very strong. As is the delay.
I find that I use this peddle system for those three features more than anything.
I would NOT use this on a stage. There's just too much to have to mess with. The controls are not as simplified as I'd want.
If using it in studio you'll have the time to get your settings and then save them, etc... but on a stage there are easier ways to get what you need... With three or four peddles you can do everything that this system does with much less headache.
