I have it, its not bad. It seams like you might lose just a little low-end but I'm sure you can modify the sound after you know how to use it. It is very hard to start from scratch because there is so much stuff on it. I'd read the directions. But I like it.
I saw a demo on this but it seems it may only have effects for guitar. If this is true maybe they will make one for bass in the future, NAMM is coming up I think. Of course this is all speculation on my part. Can anyone comment on this.
It Rocks!!!!!! I bought it a few days ago, put a 1 gig SD card in it, and haven't stopped practicing!!! It is a great tool for learning tunes and playing to/with a drum machine. I don't care about effect quality when it comes to these types of practice/recording units but it actually sounds pretty damn good, good enough to get some inspiration going. I use no effects with bass but when I play guitar I use the effects.
I think I have about 40 mp3's loaded and it still has 750 MB of empty storage space.

Just picked this the BOSS micro br a couple days myself.. Really great for playing around and getting the creativity going.. learning to lock in with drum loops and trying out stuff.
I have a fair number of toys and gadgets, but I have to admit, this is the first time I've been truly amazed at just HOW much Roland has packed into the BR.. I don't need to hook up stuff to my laptop or anything. It feels like bringing the tech to my music instead of bringing the music to the computer.
Most of it is geared towards the guitar.. and the bass response out of the unit could be better, but its not bad (using it as a preamp with headphones) Once you bounce the track to a computer, the bass is there.
I know you can get a feature list online, but here are some things I thought were neat:
- you capture to the "raw" format for multitrack use.. but can also record direct to mp3/wav (for recording gigs/practices) in like 3 button presses.
- the input level is a physical dial on the side.. so you dont have to navigate menus to adjust input level.
- it supports plug-in-power (ala minidisc) so you can use electret microphones and get rid of minidiscs/sonicstage altogether.
- shows up as an external HD.. no need for some sonicstage-like application to get audio off it.
- you can monitor your effects live, but still record the input dry.
- after the initial learning curve (1 hour of being lost).. its quite simple to use
- the internal mic is really quite good
- it supports the simple things which make an effective sounding mix easy to do: panning tracks + reverb
- the effects sound pretty good and most are usable
- doesnt come with ac adapter.. but at least it uses the existing BOSS PSA one.
