+1 on using the guitar input with bass to use the octave all over the neck. I prefer the poly-mode and really like it. And yes, there can be a slight delay when turned on.
And no, the "oc-2"mode doesn't sound as fat, but still has that synth-like tone.

Hmm, can you say a bit more about that? I really can't make up my mind on the Oc3 or Oc2

You might be waiting a while for a response, given it's a thread started in 2004 and Paul A's last activity on TB was Mar 7, 2011.


By giving the OC-2 (or an OC-3) an even level, it can "lock on" more easily to what note you're playing than if the level is dipping/peaking/inconsistent.

So you either play very carefully with no dynamics to give the OC-2 (or OC-3, or most any other octaver) that consistent level, or you can even your signal with a compressor and feed it to the octaver.

You'll have to play around with your comp and the OC-2 (or other octaver) to see if they work well together and achieve the tone you're going for (unless you have a very "transparent" comp, you may not like how the comp & octaver colour your tone).

Some people find they get better results with no comp at all, so as always YMMV.
