+1 ... I have the Turbo Tuner. It is slightly more expensive than both, but then again it's a real strobe tuner vs. the peterson which is a virtual strobe tuner.

Boss TU-2 vs. Korh Pitchblack

Yep - that's about what everyone's opinion is worth on this board.
Well said. I think tuner's are one area where more objective measures can be used to judge them though.
The basics:
- Size
- Durability
- Cost
- Availability
- Extras (power other pedals for example)
- Aesthetics (Blue LED!) - Whoops... subjective
The fancy (tuner specific):
- Accuracy
- Speed
- Range
That's probably a fair enough comment for nearly all topics in the Effects Forum.
There's objective data here though; TU-2 +/- 3 cent, Pitchblack +/- 1 cent.
Nothing wrong with the TU-2 as a stage pedal; a long-proven track record of being a quality & sturdy pedal. Pitchblack can't boast this. Yet
. But the Korg DT-10 looks sturdy enough to be driven over.TU-2 also goes a bit deeper; C0 versus the Pitchblack's E0. Not a big issue for me; C0 = 16.4 Hz while E0 = 20.6 Hz.
MUCH better 'sharp' indicator on the Pitchblack.
I can't comment on the various detuning modes et cetera; I tune chromatically.
They look to have similar prices. Overall I'd have to say the Pitchblack is the better buy, gambling on the reliability. Unless you encounter someone selling their "old POS TU-2" for cheap as they've now got a better tuner; THERE'S your deal.
For years, there really was no other pedal tuner. Sure, Fender and Ibanez had models, but they were no match for the Boss pedal.
In the past few years, newer pedal tuners that rivaled the TU-2 finally came to market. The only reason why I have a TU-2 is because it still works 8+ years later. I see no reason to change.
Can any of you actually hear a +- 2 cent difference? I can't. I'd buy the new tuner if I could. For now--and however many years it lasts--I'll use the TU-2.

It's only really annoying to me when recording, when you really put things under the microscope (especially after listening to the playback a few dozen times). And yeah, it does help when you're setting intonation.
What about the true bypass on the Pitchblack, does it make an audible 'pop' sound thru your amp when you engage/disengage it? I've heard some other true bypass pedals that do this.
And what about the switch itself (not thru the amp, just acoustically), does it make a loud 'click' sound when you press it? I like the silent switch on on the TU-2, and I'm hoping the Pitchblack's is as quiet.

I like the TU-2 because, well, I don't have anything else. 
It's what I got when i emptied the bulk of my college spending money the summer before I went. 
It's a fine pedal tuner, roughly the same price as the Korg, almost. It isn't black and sleek (but it could be If I ever got the initiative to repaint it and claim it to be a TU-3). Hey, it's what I got when I started off, so that's why I like it (plus they last forever).

No click, no pop. Even though it looks the same as the footswitches on effects pedals, it works more like the bypass on the TU-2. It's a nice and quiet pedal, but so is the TU-2. So no winner there.

TU-2 is a fine pedal. My recommendation would be to go with the Pitchblack if you don't have a tuner (at least between the TU-2 and the Pitchblack, there are other options), but it's not worth the cash to upgrade to a Pitchblack from a TU-2.

Yeah, it mutes it. But like I said, I don't think it's worth the money to upgrade from a perfectly functional TU-2. If it's broke, or if you just can't read it anymore, then it's worth the cash. But at that price, you could just save up a few bucks and get a rack tuner that you can see from a mile away.
Both of the guitarists in my band went out and bought Korg Pitchblacks on my recommendation. At the same time, I don't own one. I have that Planet Waves tuner. I've A/B/C'd the TU-2, Korg, and Planet Waves. In my honest opinion, the Planet Waves seems the most sturdy, with the Korg being last, even though it isn't fragile at all, its just not as sturdy feeling as my PW. At the same time, the Korg was the fastest and there wasn't much of a difference in the TU-2 and Planet Waves. If someone stole my tuner, I'd get a Korg. The TU-2 is a fantastic tuner however, but there's just a few too many good options out there that are cheaper.
