Double Bass Boston Symphony

I don't know, but if this trend keeps up, there are going to be a ton of auditions next year and no bass players willing to travel just to be rejected. I can understand the not fitting the section approach, but from what I here, that is a serious group of auditioners so I can't really see the not good enough. Was this a principle spot or just a section?

As long as there are openings, people will audition. The role of the double bass player is increasing and more is being expected of us as musicians, I personally think it's a great thing.
