Double Bass bow and pizzicato pickup

The Realist pickup plays well with the bow. I have the new Ehrlund EAP pickup and the Ehrlund Pre Amp, which sounds wonderful with the bow and pizzicato.
When I used an Underwood, I would use Channel 2 of my Walter Woods MI 100-8 amplifier, and a Y cord, so I had a different EQ's for bowing and pizacatto.
I currently use Evah Parazzi Weich Guage Strings, either of two different Walter Woods amplifiers, and a EA VL 108, or a Audiokenisis TC 112 speaker.

If the pickup sits more far away from the string (and not in contact with a resonant part like the bridge wing) the bowing sounds better than pickups that are positioned close to the string.

As Ric said, switching between underwood and realist works well. A 2 channel preamp or switchbox can make this happen. You may even like the realist for both.

Interesting, when I was doing this, I was actually creating two different EQ's for the same pickup, the Underwood. With the Woods MI-100-8, Channel 1 had a different EQ voicing than Channel 2, similar to what the EA Doubler does now, only the EQ points were different. I hadn't entertained the possibility of using two pickups, back then, because the Realist didn't exist yet, but that definitely would work. I'm fairly certain that one contributing factor to the terrible arco sound was Spirocore Weichs. It doesn't seem to roar it's ugly head now that I use Evah Parazzi Weichs, Corelli 360 TX's, or Heliocore Hybrids.
