I'm in a Boz Scaggs phase right now, great stuff.

May I suggest his first American LP, "Boz Scaggs". Really great stuff, recorded in `69 with the Muscle Shoals musicians.

I love that album! I'm 19 and most of my friends don't wanna hear anything by Boz Scaggs. My Dad listened to Boz in college, so I heard his stuff growing up. David Hungate's grooves on that album are inspiring to me as a bassist. Off to listen to more!!




"Lowdown" is actually quite difficult to play. Getting from that pop on the G down to solid groove on the E is more difficult than one would think!

One of the all time masterpieces! In 1970, I used to listen to "Somebody Loan Me A Dime" and cry.....finally had the pleasure of playing with Boz in the early nineties.
Did my soul a world of good!

My ear says it's an overdub (and because I tried to learn it and play both parts!), but do you have a reference to cite for this being a double-tracked bass part?

In the Bass Player mag issue when they did the transcription for Lowdown, they also did a mini-interview where David told the story of the 'pops'.
