Brass nut yes or no

I didn't say it sounded brassy. I said it sounded different. Cleaner and clearer. But then, maybe I don't know what brassy sounds like. I think "horn" when you say brassy. Nope. Not what I'm hearing. Just cleaner and clearer. Of the two Sabres, I like the feel (slimmer neck) and tone of the one with the brass nut best. Then again, I am probably pre-disposed to brass nuts, since every Alembic I have ever owned (or played) has one.
My apologies. I sometimes mistake "clearer bell-like tone" for what I call brassy sometimes. I've never heard a bass without brass hardware to actually have that bell tone, is the thing.

No apologies necessary. We're just clarifying stuff.

The bell tone thing might be the key. There is a piano-like, (maybe "clearer bell-like tone" is an equally good description) quality to the tone. And that is, to an even greater degree, how I describe the clarity of my Alembics. It is likely that I prefer the brass nut on the Sabre because it in some small way mimics part of what I like about my brass nutted Alembics.
