Brassmaster clone too sensitive?

So I picked up a Maestro Brassmaster clone (the older one) from the flea market, and it has some real nice dist in there. I even engraved the clean enclosure with "Mass-Aster" gfx

But, tweaking it right is such a pain - the sensitivity knob needs to be moved up just a tiny little amount, and the brass-volume is similar. Otherwise the fuzz-dist goes overboard and craps out the tone.

Any ideas, how to deal with this. Tweak the circuit? Add a resistor?

Perhaps I am doing something wrong? Need higher input level?

There's a man on here named Vegas. Real name Thom. He'll chime in when he sees this. He loves the Brass master circuit and is very open with his knowledge.

From what you're describing it sounds like it *might* be working fine. Brassmasters have a huge amount of gain available that can get really saturated and compressed and they're also known to be very loud. The Sensitivity control will be very...sensitive...to certain basses depending on output, active/passive, onboard EQ, etc.

Well, I was playing around with it <-- Boss AW-3 wah <-- bass just now. The sensitivity must be really really low (0.3 if the knob goes from 0 to 10), brass mix at 1-2, and bass at 5 - or the bottom end gets all eaten up by fuzzy buzzyness.

I would like to find out how to make the sensitivity and brass knobs work in range 0 - 3, because it seems that the 0-1 is where all the action is for me.

If your pedal is this version, then change VR1 to an audio taper pot. VR2 and VR3 are the same dual ganged pot, so also change this pot to audio taper.
