Breaking low b while installing!

I'm basically sticking with any strings that have silk wrap or are really thin on the tuner side for it. Zero issues.

What strings have you used that were close to the DR's?

Basswalker, I'm curious, what kind of bass?

Perhaps you should, none of my crappy Fenders break B strings! He did recently participate in a discussion about noise pickup and tapewounds where he basically said no one should use tapewounds. I don't know the man from Adam but I get the impression that if you buy his basses you use the strings he says you can use???

man you can paraphrase just about anything out of context and make it sound bad.

He talked about coated and tapewound strings. Said that he tested several brands on his basses and found that many of the coated/taped strings did not ground properly, due to the coating/tape being non-conductive. With the electronics and wiring in his basses, this means unwanted noise.

In the practice room, a little noise may not be a problem. Get up on stage where your volume is 5 times louder and there is all sorts of potential interference----yeah its no wonder he wouldn't recommend those strings.

D'Addario Prosteels would be the closest, but still not the same. I've been running Rotosound for awhile now and I really like them.

I used to hate Rotos, which is how I found DR, but nothing sounds quite as grindy/edgy/growly as Rotos IME.I gave them another chance and they're great for what I do.

Anyway he's still doing something wrong, there should be no string overlap as he describes.
