Alrighty First gig w/the B25 Fretless today. Sadowsky Light Gage flats, Zoom B3>Shuttle 6.0>Carvin LS1503 cab.
I played 4 of 8 Classic Rock songs with it and it was everything I hoped it would be. IMHO, a fretless doesn't have to mwah all the time. It can be out of place and distracting at time. I didn't want to it sound like a fretless much on the first 3 songs, so I rolled everything to the neck pickup. With those Sadowsky flats, it was just a great, old school thump. A buddy of mine/fellow bass player was in the separate bar part of the restaurant and he could hear but not see. He didn't know it was a fretless until he walked out there. So mission accomplished there.
The last song called for a pronounced 'mwah', so everything got rolled to the bridge pickup, and I boosted the bass a tiny, tiny bit. Mwah city. It sounded soooo good. Not artificial or processed or any of that, and dead quite with the humbuckers. Needless the say, the playability was awesome.
Never did I have to touch the amp or anything like that. Everything controlled/eq'd from the bass itself. What a keeper this one is. Holy Cow!

Which of these options would you prefer to have if they were offered on the Carvin B24 and B25 basses? In no particular order......
3. Radiused bridge pick-up and P Bass pick-up combination?
4. 24 fret bolt on option with either all of the above or none of the above

1. Traditional non radiused jazz bass pick-ups like the J99A's instead of the radiused pick-ups?
2. P Bass pick up or non radiused jazz bass pick ups like the J99A's and P bass pick-up combination?
3. Radiused bridge pick-up and P Bass pick-up combination?
4. 24 fret bolt on option with either all of the above or none of the above?
5. Leave the B24 and B25 as it stands now?
This is completely unofficial but it is important to me to see and hear what you guys care about. Thank you for participating!...........B2

5. None of the above.
Brian, I honestly like my B25s just the way they are. I love the neck-through. I love the deep cutaway. I love the uniquely fluid lines of the shape. I love the radiused pickups. It's contemporary, yet sophisticated and elegant. In short, it's me!![]()
I'd have to agree with MysticMichael....leave the B2 as is, it's perfect.
