Double Bass Bridge saddles?

Can someone tell me what these are actually called and where to find them if they are still available?

Many years ago (+/- 35) I noticed small bits of steel that came with new strings my father was putting on his bass. They were to sit in the slots of the bridge between the wood and the string.

Since I've been playing db I've never seen them, but am curious about the benefits and if they are even still available.

Thanks

They come with Pirastro and SuperSensitive steel core strings.

You can use them to avoid thin strings cutting into the bridge wood.

Also the strings would slide better over the bridge so the bridge might better stay in place and not bending towards the fingerboard (and even if it does it is easier to press the bridge back in place).
